Birkey’s Farm Store has been serving Illinois and Indiana farmers and contractors since 1954, growing from a single shop into a network of more than 20 locations and 500+ employee-owners. When Birkey’s expanded their Urbana operation to a new facility on High Cross Road, they needed a builder who understood the demands of a high-volume agricultural dealership — and turned to Drake Homes & Commercial Builders.
The project called for a large-format commercial facility capable of housing an expansive showroom for Case IH agricultural and construction equipment, a fully equipped service department with multiple service bays, a parts warehouse, and customer-facing office space. The scope required careful coordination of structural steel, heavy concrete foundations, and commercial mechanical systems built to withstand the daily demands of heavy equipment operations.
The result was a facility that anchored Birkey’s expanded presence in the Champaign-Urbana market — a flagship location that matched the scale and reputation of one of the region’s most respected equipment dealerships.
